Mosgaard single Cask Palo Cortado 401805 will be released at Easter 2023 in celebration of Mosgaard Palo Cortado being named Denmark's best single malt at the World Whiskies Awards 2023. It is the second time it has happened to us, the first time in 2021 with Mosgaard Pedro Ximenez, and now with our Palo Cortado which means a lot to us.

Palo Cortado is through a long process, where we start by building our quarter casks of American white-oak, maturing them for 1.5 years with a Palo Cortado Sherry that Jes Mosgaard himself has blended - before our New Spirit is filled into the casks and the actual maturation begins.

The typical notes from Palo Cortado aged sherry are bitter orange notes, ginger, lemon grass, cocoa and something completely different from typical sherry-aged whiskies.

The World Whiskies Awards writes the following about our Palo Cortado:

"Aromatic nose of caraway, burnt sugar, leather, and hints of lapsang. Warming, but dry notes of brandy, ginger, dates, and baked apple on the palate, before a long finish of red berries, sherry, and dark chocolate. Excellent balance between the wood and fruit notes."

In Jim Murray's Whiskey bible 2023, Palo Cortado was also awarded the Liquid Gold Award with 95.5 points, so it's a world-class whiskey.
