We are very proud that not only our Single Cask Black Peat can be named Europe's best Single Cask in 2023, but now also our "classic" expression in Peated Bourbon has hit the top - and according to Jim Murray, also among the 5 best whiskies in the world this year.

As the name suggests, it has been in Ex. Bourbon casks, quarter casks that we get rebuilt from old Jim Beam casks initially give a nice almond and vanilla sweetness. After 3-4 years in the small Ex. In bourbon casks, the whisky gets a double maturation in casks of new Hungarian oak - quite unusually, it gives spicy notes, liquorice and chocolate.

This double maturation is unusual for peated whiskey, but it adds depth and complexity to the flavour when smoke, spicy notes, and vanilla sweetness meet. In general, we have experienced that ageing in Hungarian oak makes the smoke vibrate and wave a little, whereas the Bourbon casks make it calm down, so the combination is inspiring.

It is bottled at 48.4% - which is why it benefits from a few drops of water in the glass to open up, but also try to give it a little more according to taste and pleasure.
